Interstellar Threats vs. Solar System Risks

When people worry about asteroid impacts, he points out there are two very different scenarios to consider. Interstellar objects passing through from outside our solar system make headlines, but the Earth is an incredibly small target in the vastness of space. The odds of something flying in from interstellar space and actually hitting us are essentially zero. The real concern lies much closer to home. Objects already orbiting within our solar system, asteroids and comets that share our neighborhood, those present an entirely different level of risk. It's not about what might randomly arrive from the cosmic void. It's about what's already here, cycling through predictable but sometimes Earth-crossing orbits.
